On September 11, 2024, 44 Bavarian cities and towns were honored as "GenussOrt 2024". The monastery village of Ettal around the Klosterhotel Ettal can also look forward to another award!

The monastery village of Ettal once again impressed with its diverse offering, which particularly revolves around the monastery's own distillery. The famous Ettal liqueurs, produced under the supervision of Frater Vitalis, are the flagship of the region. The herbs are carefully selected by hand and added to the distillate. Visitors can experience the production process on a tour of the distillery - but the exact recipe remains Frater Vitalis' well-kept secret.

The Ettal Monastery Hotel is also an important part of the culinary experience. Here, products from the monastery's agriculture and hunting, such as game, fish specialties and products from the hotel's own cheese dairy, are processed into exquisite dishes that delight both locals and tourists.

The 15-member jury, consisting of experts from agriculture, tourism, gastronomy and consumer interests, selected the best gourmet locations for 80 from over 2024 applications. Special criteria were regional specialties, artisanal production and the experience of local gourmet offerings - through guided tours, direct marketing or gastronomy.
