There is our castle, founded in 1330 by Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian, Benedictine Monastery Ettal with the impressive basilica, stately Rococo sacristy and imposing Monastery Library But the region around our monastery is also full of cultural highlights: The UNESCO World Heritage Royal palaces of Ludwig II., the world-famous Passion Play venue oberammergau with its wonderful Lüftl paintings and Herrgott carvings, various local museums or the renowned Wieskirche are more than worth a visit.
