Ettal and its surroundings also offer a variety of skiing opportunities for downhill and snowboard enthusiasts – whether professional or amateur. Skiers will find ideal slope conditions for every taste in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen ski area (15 km from Ettal), on the Zugspitze , in neighboring Ehrwald and Leermoos, at the Kolben lifts in Oberammergau (with snowmaking facilities), and on the Laber mountain.
