“The Jewels of Romantic Europe” – a marketing cooperation with the Klosterhotel Ettal

Our hotel has always been open to guests from all over the world. In the years before the Corona pandemic, international and especially Korean tour groups were accommodated, multilingual guided tours of our Monastery operations offered and even held their own services in the basilica in Ettal Monastery. This is why Ettal Monastery and our monastery hotel have been partners of the marketing cooperation “The Jewels of Romantic Europe“Is.

What is the aim of this association and why is our monastery hotel so popular among tour groups? That is what this blog post is about. We will also tell you about our experiences on a trip to Asia.

What is “The Jewels of Romantic Europe”?

“The Jewels of Romantic Europe” have set themselves the goal of presenting individual destinations in Upper Bavaria and Tyrol throughout Asia and convincing travel groups from the Far East of their attractiveness directly on site.

Because of the love of the mountains, Ettal is particularly interesting for Asians and a popular travel destination. In addition, our monastery hotel Ettal is located for the groups very central and offers an ideal starting point for visiting the surrounding sights in Bavaria and the neighboring Tyrol.

Other partners of the marketing cooperation

In addition to the Klosterhotel Ettal, 11 other important tourist destinations in Upper Bavaria and Tyrol belong to the association:

Our Jens Riedel on a big trip – the “Jewels Roadshows” through Asia

The marketing association “The Jewels of Romantic Europe” organizes two “roadshows” every year. On these tours to the capitals and major centers of Asian countries, the individual Bavarian and Tyrolean destinations are presented in cooperation with the local tourist agencies. Representatives of travel agencies can thus come into direct contact with the representatives of the Jewels and exchange experiences as well as discuss sightseeing and accommodation options.

The Klosterhotel Ettal took part in such a trip for the first time at the end of last year and our operations manager Jens Riedel reports on his experiences on site:

“It was a special honor and distinction for me that I was chosen by the management of our monastery hotel to present our monastery and monastery hotel on trips to Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore in spring and autumn 2023. Of course, these two trips were also an incredibly enriching experience for me personally and I am happy and grateful that I had this great opportunity. The visit to Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Bangkok showed me a new and fascinating world.”

The delicacy on top: Our monastery beer is internationally known

As a special surprise, Jens Riedel was even allowed to visit our Benedictine Beer Because not only Ettal, with its unique basilica and monastery complex, is known in the Far East, but also our tasty Benedictine monastery beers.

"On my first tour of Tokyo Central Station, I recognized the Benedictine wheat beer in a drinks shop. I was pleased to see that our Benedictine beers are even served in restaurants in Tokyo," says Jens Riedel.

This makes us very proud and we look forward to continuing our good cooperation with
“The Jewels of Romantic Europe”!
