The monastery hotel is an integral part of the Ettaler Klosterbetriebe GmbH, whose managing directors are monks from the monastery. The monastery hotel is managed by Mrs. von Külmer.

The monastery hotel does not offer a shuttle service. We are only a 1-minute walk from the nearest public transport bus stop.
Our monastery hotel has a panoramic indoor pool, the use of which is included in the inclusive services.
Upon request and subject to availability, it is possible to book additional nights.
You can arrange an appointment to talk to the monastery's guest priest or another monk through the monastery gate, which is located right next to the basilica.
You can get a glimpse behind the monastery walls during guided tours.
In the middle of the Ammergau Alps, 12 kilometers from the monastery hotel, lies Linderhof Castle, one of the castles of King Ludwig II.
The Zugspitze is about 25 kilometers south of the monastery hotel. You can reach the Zugspitze by car or by public transport by bus and train.
The church is located in the Ettal monastery complex and is located directly across the street from the Klosterhotel Ettal. It can be easily reached on foot in about 3 minutes.
Our monastery hotel has a bowling alley, which can be reserved subject to availability and for a fee.
There are numerous options in the area around Ettal. From the WellenBerg water park in Oberammergau, the Oberammergau Reptile House, the Oberammergau Museum, the Saulgrub bouldering hall, the Ettal cheese dairy, to a trip to the Glentleiten open-air museum in Großweil.
No. From the earliest times, monasteries have operated hostels and hospices and taken in guests. Ettal Monastery was no exception. In the 15th century, the monastery built the "Wirtstavern", which over the course of history became our 4**** Ettal Monastery Hotel. The monastery hotel is called "Ludwig the Bavarian" because Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian founded the monastery in 1330.
It is possible to book a hiking guide. Please ask at our reception in advance.
In our monastery hotel, a washing machine and dryer room is available for a fee. You also have the option of leaving your laundry at reception and having it cleaned by us for a fee.
We would be happy to create an individual voucher for you. You can create a voucher that can be redeemed for all services at the Klosterhotel Ettal. Or you can create a voucher for a specific service, such as a wellness treatment, an overnight stay or an evening meal.

On our menu you will find a selection of Bavarian dishes that are vegetarian.
The food at our monastery hotel includes traditional Bavarian dishes with ingredients from the region.
As a guest of our monastery hotel, you will be provided with a wellness bag including a bathrobe and sauna towel during your stay. Bath slippers are available free of charge at the hotel reception upon request.
Children up to 5 years: free/no charge (sleep in parents' bed or in a child's bed)
Children aged 5-11: Incl. breakfast: € 40,00 (in extra bed or sofa bed)
Persons aged 12 and over are considered full-paying guests: Incl. breakfast: € 50,00
As part of our inclusive services, you can surf the Internet and use our WiFi free of charge during your stay.
On request you can book a guided tour of the Ettal Monastery (basilica, distillery and brewery).
Our monastery hotel has a wellness oasis. This includes a sauna, a steam bath, an infrared area and a tepidarium.
Furthermore, beauty and spa treatments can be booked for a fee.
The town centre of oberammergau is located 5 kilometers from the Klosterhotel Ettal. You can reach Oberammergau by car in about 7 minutes, by bike in about 15 minutes and on foot in about 1 hour.
Your booked room will be ready for occupancy from 16 p.m. on the day of arrival. You can use the room until 11 a.m. on the day of departure. If you have any further questions, our reception team will be happy to help you by phone or email.
The following excursions can also be undertaken with a stroller:
- Ettal high trail with a view of the Ettal Monastery. You can reach the high trail from the Ettal Monastery Hotel via the Show dairy
- Weidmoos Runde: From the Klosterhotel Ettal you can reach the hiking trail (suitable for pushchairs) to Ettal mill and back
- Bad Bayersoien- Lake Bayersoien (Circular route)., Can be reached by car from the Klosterhotel Ettal in 20 minutes. Beautiful circuit with barefoot path along the lake

The 4**** Klosterhotel Ettal Ludwig der Bayer in Ettal is located at an altitude of approx. 870 m in a beautiful location between the Ammer and Loisach valleys. You can find more information on our page How to reach us.
The stay can be paid for on site in cash, with an EC card or with all major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa).
The monastery hotel has a modern car park. Depending on availability, you can rent a parking space in the garage (fee: € 10,00/per day). Among other things, there are charging stations that you can use at a reduced rate. 6 charging stations for electric cars (for a fee) and bicycles (free of charge) are installed on the grounds of the monastery hotel and can be used with a charging card.

No, not in principle. Access to the restaurant is barrier-free.
The tourist tax is currently € 1,50 per day and is charged separately at the end of the trip.

Our rich breakfast buffet with vitality corner is one of our Services included.
- Reception: the reception is available 24 hours
- Restaurant: daily from 10:00 a.m. to 22:00 p.m.
- Beauty and spa area: Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m.
- Sauna: daily from 15:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.
- Panorama indoor pool: daily from 07:30 a.m. to 21:00 p.m.
- Cafe 1330: Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m.
The monastery hotel has handicapped-accessible rooms. Unfortunately, there are no completely barrier-free rooms.
Our cancellation conditions can be found in the General Terms and Conditions under the point Withdrawal of order/Cancellation by the customer.
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to seven days before arrival. After seven days, we charge a cancellation fee of 80% of all booked services.
We recommend travel cancellation insurance.
During your stay at the monastery hotel, you can use our fitness room free of charge.
At our monastery hotel you can rent bicycles for a fee and subject to availability. Please contact our reception team by phone or email.
If you would like to bring your dog with you during your stay, please discuss this with us before your arrival so that we can plan your room accordingly. There is an additional charge of €14,00 per pet per night for bringing a pet. Thank you for your understanding that your pet is not allowed in our wellness oasis or the breakfast buffet area.
The hotel has three elevators at different locations throughout the building, which can reach every floor.
If you have special dietary requirements, such as vegan diet, allergies, food intolerances or other health problems, our kitchen team will be happy to prepare a delicious alternative menu as part of your half-board. Please inform us directly by phone or email when booking your stay.
The rooms can be equipped with a baby cot and baby bedding upon request. A high chair is available in the restaurant.

All rooms are equipped with encasing covers (allergy covers) for the mattresses. Some of the rooms have wooden floors. And allergy-friendly bed linen can be provided on request. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our reception at any time.
