Our Klosterhotel Ettal is a place that not only impresses with its breathtaking beauty, but also has a deep-rooted history that goes back 400 years. The history is closely linked to that of the Ettal monastery, which has brought spiritual life to the region since its foundation in 1330.

In the early 17th century, when the monastery had already been in existence for over three centuries, the monks began to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims and visitors who came from near and far to experience the sacred site and the surrounding breathtaking nature. Hostels and hospices were built, especially in inhospitable mountain passes and remote areas, as there was no other accommodation for travelers and pilgrims. What began as a simple hostel developed over time into an inn and finally into a hotel, our Klosterhotel Ettal.
